Aspect joins fight against genocide
The Wiener Library Institute of Contemporary History has forged a partnership with Aspect Media to publish a biannual newsletter and produce exhibition stands to promote the work and initiatives of the the world’s leading and most extensive resource to oppose antisemitism and other forms of genocide, prejudice and racism.
The 62-year-old newsletter , which is being totally redesigned and refocused by Aspect’s team including Editorial Director Celia Mather and Art Director Joel O’Connor, is aimed to help the Library in a major fundraising campaign to attract £3.5 million required to secure new accommodation and, in turn, the future of the Library.
Aspect’s design team has also produced five portable panels for a major travelling exhibition being launched at the House of Commons towards the end of November. The exhibition draws connections between the Holocaust and current issues within certain themes such as justice, refugees and propaganda.
Bridget McGing, the first Marketing and Fundraising Manager at the Library, described the move as “an opportunity to make a real impact on the public image and reach of the Library and its work”.
The Wiener Library’s unique collection of over one million items, currently mainly on the Holocaust and Nazi era, includes published and unpublished works, press cuttings, photographs and eyewitness testimony. According to McGing it’s value is being recognised in understanding more recent forms of genocide, like those which took place in Rwanda, Bosnia and Iraq.
